Depression: The Game!

Honestly, it might be too kind to call this project a "game." There is no way to win, short of cheating, and the gameplay consists of frantically clicking while your time (or medicine) runs out. This is a kind of game that I repeatedly resort to for its absolute simplicity combined with its ease of use for illustrating abstract or "hopeless" topics. The topic here is, of course, clinical depression: no matter how much you tell yourself to "just be happy," and no matter how much others offer platitudes, the depression persists. The screen gets darker as you run out of medication, and your red obtrusive thoughts keep pounding until the end.

That's depressing! Click on the "Just Be Happy" below to be sad.
